Our state’s ornery and bipolar weather is just one of a hundred tricky variables promoters go up against no matter the event or time of year. That said, putting on a live show in the midst of a Colorado winter is trying, and its damn near insanity if the venue is outdoors. But, because insane doesn’t mean impossible, things like outdoor winter shows happen, and last year Icelantic's Winter on the Rocks pushed fans’ loyalty to unforeseen limits.

Even after half a foot of snow covered the admirable Red Rocks Amphitheatre last year, the annual Icelantic Winter on the Rocks showcase went down without so much as a delayed start time. If the event could push through six inches and below freezing temperatures, there’s no telling what it could do in the future.
Now we have at least a short answer to the “What’s next?” query. Yesterday the Icelantic Winter on the Rocks camp released the headliners of the 4th annual winter concert series. Major Lazer and Damian Marley will be joining the ranks of performances past, which includes Macklemore, Ghostland Observatory, Jurassic 5 and others.
The unique showcase will take place on Jan 30, 2015 and is sponsored by Monster Energy Drink (because nothing warms the body more than an overworked circulatory system), JEEP (because how the hell else are we supposed to drive in the foothills during snow), Verizon and HTC (because if we get stranded at least we can take a selfie before we die of exposure) and Oskar Blues Brewery (because … drunk).
Tickets will go on sale this Saturday, Nov 8, and range between $52.80 (get it?) and $55.00 for general admission.
