Thailand has launched a campaign to give away 1,000 marijuana plants while simultaneously telling its citizens not to get high, once again reminding us of the age-old adage, “You can’t have your cake and put it into a bong and light it on fire, too.”

According to an article from ABC, the campaign launched shortly after Thailand decriminalized marijuana growth for commercial purposes, with Thailand’s Health Minister, Anutin Charnvirakul, warning citizens that they better not even think about burning down some of that good good from the bomb bomb bush.

“Don't use it and sit smiling at home and not get any work done," said Charnvirakul, reminding us all that the only reason cannabis is still illegal is due to every country’s fears for its own respective domestic manufacturing rates and GOP.

Though he stated that cannabis should be used to improve health, Charnvirakul reminded citizens that getting stoned is still frowned upon.

"Those things are not our policies. We have erased the stigma. It's being washed away like removing a tattoo. Don't let it come back,” said Charnvirakul, consequently making every person in Thailand wonder exactly how tattoo ink works in the first place.

The country decriminalized cannabis last Thursday, with inhabitants being allowed to grow cannabis if they register themselves on a government smartphone application, reminding all parties involved that good things cannot exist without government agencies trying to micromanage them at all hours of the day.

The amount of THC allowed in products in Thailand is limited to 0.2 percent, with our grandfathers assuring us that the Thai sticks they got in Vietnam were way more potent than that.

THC is the psychoactive compound found in cannabis, and if you made it this far in life without knowing that, we want you to know that we’re not even mad. We’re genuinely impressed. Good job.

Thailand is the first country in Asia to decriminalize cannabis, and though it seems like they’re fucking the whole thing up, there is one aspect that they seem to be beating us in: releasing prisoners.

Since the law changed last week, at least 3,000 people in Thailand have been freed from prison after being held on crimes relating to cannabis.

That’s a far cry from how America is doing with its cannabis offenders, with Mississippi upholding a life sentence for a man who was caught with 43.710 grams of marijuana back in 2017.
