The Department of Justice has opened an investigation into eggs — more specifically, into egg producers for price gouging and anti-consumer activities. But that’s just the tip of the iceberg. The motivations behind this corporate scheme seem far more sinister than a simple cash grab.

You’ve probably noticed how wicked expensive eggs have gotten. The mainstream corporate news blames a bird flu outbreak that allegedly killed tens of thousands of chickens, reducing supply and inflating demand. But those basic macroeconomics don’t hold up to real scrutiny.

That’s why food and consumer organizations are raising red flags. They see this for what it is: premeditated, collusive price gouging. The vast majority of U.S. eggs are supplied by just three gigantic corporate producers, all of whom are seeing record profits, despite the alleged “catastrophic outbreak.”

But that’s par for the course. Greedy companies doing greedy shit isn’t a conspiracy. So what are we talking about here?

We’re talking about the art of controlling the masses, of course. They don’t teach this stuff in school — yet it’s a practice that’s been perfected over thousands of years. People have written books on the many ways to bend a population to your will, describing techniques honed over millennia, used by rulers and elites since time immemorial to psychologically manipulate a population.

One common technique is to create “artificial scarcity.” You take a foundational supply, like gas, cotton, lumber, or perhaps eggs, and jack the price up. It creates stress at a very basic level, straining people’s wallets, making budgets tighter, and making people more easily manipulated by a government that comes bearing “solutions.” When people are scared or stressed, they’re more likely to accept certain rules and policies they might have otherwise opposed.

Are we being controlled by egg prices? Whether our government’s intelligence agencies are working in cahoots with egg producers to create a climate of financial stress or not, the outcome is the same. Eggs are in almost every household. They’re an ingredient in almost every food. Price gouging a foundational supply like that affects every working person in the U.S.

A cash grab like this benefits both our shadow government and corporate overlords. It’s hard to imagine that’s just a coincidence.
