Colorado Governor Jared Polis caught some shit (that’s an actual journalistic political term, go Google it) after he proposed building a $28 million pedestrian bridge to celebrate Colorado’s 150th anniversary. Then, when he saw how critics and the public reacted, he promised to chain himself to the Capitol’s plaza to prevent construction.

Frankly, we’re relieved. If we ever see the day where politicians stop being wishy-washy, we’ll fully believe the very fabrics of society are tearing at their seams.

According to The Colorado Sun, Polis proposed that the bridge would cross Lincoln Street in front of Colorado’s Capitol building. Then the governor’s office did a poll of 90,000 Coloradans, with 94 percent telling the governor to get wrecked.

In truth, 94 percent of those polled said they opposed the idea, but we think that if more polls had a “get wrecked” option, we’d be a lot more likely to take polls. After seeing the poll results, Polis quickly changed his mind.

“I will commit my time and effort to prevent this walkway from being built, even if I have to chain myself to the Capitol Plaza to stop it!” wrote Polis on Facebook.

While we appreciate the sentiment, this kind of hot and cold behavior is just going to give our uncle more ammunition to talk about Democrats the next time we visit, and at this point in 2025, we’re damn near at our limit.
