Electro-pop-funk duo Cherub are back in a big way. Their new album Everything Changes and That’s OK dropped September 5, marking their most expansive and emotionally nuanced work to date. Alongside it, the band are hitting the road for a U.S. fall tour, including a special three-night Colorado run with shows at Ophelia’s in Denver (Sept 25), The Fox Theatre in Boulder (Sept 26), and The Aggie Theatre in Fort Collins (Sept 28).
The record arrives as a new milestone in Cherub’s journey. Best known for their double-platinum breakout hit “Doses & Mimosas,” the duo have consistently reinvented themselves with lush production, groove-heavy beats, and unshakable hooks. On Everything Changes and That’s OK, they lean further into heartfelt lyricism while doubling down on the danceable energy that made them a festival staple in the first place. Singles like “Long Story Short” (co-written with Louis Futon), the dreamy “Motion,” and the moody “Crime Scene” show off the group’s ability to balance fun with vulnerability, keeping longtime fans on their toes.
Colorado fans are in for an extra treat this weekend beyond their headlining shows, Cherub will also step onto one of the state’s most iconic stages as part of Big Gigantic’s Rowdytown 13 at Red Rocks on September 27. The set marks a unique full-circle moment: Rowdytown has become one of Colorado’s most beloved annual events, and this year’s lineup will see Cherub joining forces with Big G and Gramatik for an unforgettable night.
Formed in Nashville, Cherub have spent the past decade carving out a niche that bridges indie-electro, funk, and pop, earning a reputation as one of the most dynamic live acts of their era. Their touring history spans global festivals like Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, and Austin City Limits, while their grassroots fanbase has kept them in demand from sweaty clubs to major amphitheaters. With Everything Changes and That’s OK, they’re not just chasing nostalgia but they’re also leaning into growth, vulnerability, and the next chapter of their evolution.
Whether you’re catching them in an intimate Colorado venue or at the legendary Red Rocks, this run offers the perfect snapshot of where Cherub have been and where they’re headed next.
We had a chance to chat with Cherub ahead of the weekend where we dig into the making of the new album, their excitement for Colorado, and what’s fueling this fresh wave of creativity. Check out our conversation below!
[Rooster]: You’re about to play three back-to-back nights in Colorado in Denver, Boulder, and Fort Collins. How are you feeling heading into this run?
[Cherub]: This is the end of this tour so we could be feeling tired but all the shows so far have been such high energy from the crowd we are ready to rip these shows with our Colorado fam! Very much looking forward to getting sweaty with the crowds!
Each of those cities has its own vibe. Do you guys switch things up depending on where you’re playing, or is it all one big party?
We definitely gauge each show by how engaged the crowd is but we definitely end up just having one big party in the cities we play in haha
Congrats on the new album Everything Changes and That’s OK! What does this record mean to you at this point in your career?
Thank you ! For us putting this album out meant a lot because it had been so long since we had made new material and so to get it out there for people to jam and then to also play it live for people and see their reaction has been extremely rewarding. We are just grateful to still be doin the damn thing man !
The singles “Long Story Short,” “Motion,” and “Crime Scene” all show different sides of your sound. How did those tracks help set the tone for the full album?
“Long Story Short” is the lead single from the record, but it’s also the song we recorded last. We picked that one as the lead single, because we happened to be jamming that one the hardest.
“Doses & Mimosas” just went double platinum more than a decade later. What’s it like knowing that song still hits as hard now as it did back then?
We are forever grateful for that song cus it’s allowed us to continue making music and tour. So we are stoked people keeping raging that song !
For these shows, are you leaning heavy into the new album, or will fans still get plenty of the classics mixed in?
The set list for this current tour is spanning across all our albums. We got some old, some new, and some in between ! Giving the crowd VARIETY
The album title feels like a mantra, Everything Changes and That’s OK. Was there a particular moment that inspired that outlook?
haha yea I guess it kinda reads like a mantra. Really it was just how we felt life was feeling at the time we were in the studio and still currently feels. It’s really all about growing and adapting to changes.
Colorado’s been a big stop for you guys over the years. Any wild stories or favorite memories from past shows here?
We’ve always enjoyed coming to Colorado. The energy at Colorado shows is always next level and we can never skip coming when booking tours. As far as wild stories , I know there are many but our memory seems to be failing us at the moment …. Jason usually DJs at an oyster soiree on the side of a mountain in Vail every March, so that’s pretty epic.
