At just 19 years old, Colorado native CharlieWonder is already carving out his own lane in electronic music. While most artists his age are still finding their footing, Charlie has performed at some of the state’s most iconic venues, including Red Rocks Amphitheatre and Mission Ballroom, and has earned co-signs from heavyweights like Two Friends, Loud Luxury, NOTD, and Disco Lines. But what truly sets him apart is his drive to reimagine how and where fans experience live music.
That vision comes to life through A Wonderful Morning, a pop-up series that trades in nightclubs and late nights for coffee shops and intimate, unconventional spaces. These events blur the lines between show and community gathering, creating an atmosphere where nostalgia meets euphoria. Each pop-up features curated openers, local vendors, and Charlie’s signature headline set, delivering the kind of connection that feels personal and fresh in an industry often dominated by spectacle.
It’s a bold move for an artist who isn’t even old enough to legally buy a drink. But rather than seeing age as a barrier, Charlie has turned it into a strength, leaning on creativity and community to fuel momentum. His recent partnership with Burton, a nod to his lifelong love of skiing and Colorado’s snow culture, further cements his role as both an artist and cultural connector in his home state.
With an ever-growing fanbase and more projects on the horizon, Charlie is proving that age doesn’t limit ambition and he’s building an ecosystem where fans feel like insiders, part of something bigger than themselves. And the momentum isn’t slowing down anytime soon. CharlieWonder just announced the return of A Wonderful Evening, this time on the rooftop of Denver’s Burton Flagship Store. Set for October 11th, the free 18+ event will feature full-scale production, a brand-new lineup, exclusive merch drops, and rooftop vibes with a full bar. Partnering with Burton, Charlie is promising his biggest and most ambitious pop-up yet. Fans can RSVP by DM’ing him the word “WONDERFUL” or texting (+1 256-290-1203) to lock in their spot.
We sat down with CharlieWonder to talk about the inspiration behind A Wonderful Morning, what it’s like to navigate the industry under 21, and how his Colorado upbringing continues to shape his vision.
[Rooster]: Your pop-up series, A Wonderful Morning, has been gaining traction. What sparked the idea to host shows in coffee shops and other unexpected spaces instead of traditional venues?
[CharlieWonder]: When I started doing the Wonderful Morning pop-ups, it was all centered around the idea of community within the dance music world. I think it’s more important now than ever to build that artist–fan connection, because that’s what creates a strong community. When I think back on my time in the industry, I always go back to that first concert I attended in middle school. I didn’t have any expectations for what I was about to experience, which furthered my love and excitement for the event itself. That same feeling is exactly what I’m trying to bring forward through A Wonderful Morning.
You’re under 21, which makes it harder to play nightclubs and bars. How has that challenge shaped the way you approach performing and connecting with fans?
Being under 21 is both a blessing and a challenge. I feel incredibly grateful to have started my career in music when I did, because now at 19 I already have a solid group of mentors, friends, and team members surrounding me. That support system sets me up for long-term success.
When it comes to nightlife, being an underage DJ has always been a struggle. At the end of the day, though, it all comes down to trust. Without trust, it’s nearly impossible to get booked as an artist. Building that trust with promoters and venues has been the key to pushing me forward in the club and bar scene, and it’s what’s allowed me to go as far as I have so far.
The energy at these events blends nostalgia with high-energy DJ sets. How do you curate your tracklists to balance those familiar throwbacks with fresh, euphoric moments?
Whenever I’m building out my sets for events, I like to take myself back to the past—specifically to those moments riding in the back of my dad’s car after school. Because my dad had such a diverse taste in music, I grew up with the mindset that there are no real rules when it comes to what you play. That perspective shaped the way I approach DJing today: I forget the “norms” and simply mix what I love. The result is a sound that feels fresh, euphoric, fun, and full of energy.
You’ve partnered with Burton, a legendary name in snow culture. How did that collaboration come about, and how does it connect with your Colorado roots?
I was practically born on the mountain! Both of my parents are huge skiers, and I’ve been skiing since the age of two. It’s one of the coolest parts about growing up in Colorado. Skiing gives me the same euphoric feeling I get when I’m DJing, which is why it holds such a strong place in my life.
My Colorado roots are deeply important to me, so this collaboration has always been a dream. Being able to bring everything full circle—connecting my passions for skiing and music—feels incredibly special. I can’t wait to express that energy in a night of amazing music right in the heart of my city.
You’ve already played massive venues like Red Rocks and Mission Ballroom, and earned support from artists like Two Friends, Loud Luxury, and Disco Lines. What’s been the most surreal moment for you so far in your career?
I think the most surreal moments are the ones no one sees. When I first started producing music and DJing, I had no idea what it would become. Looking back now, that journey inspires me and motivates me to keep reaching for things I once thought were out of reach.
It’s the late nights in the studio, the drives up the mountains with music blasting, the calls and sessions over Zoom—those are the moments that bring me the most joy. I’ve learned that when you come to love the grind and embrace slow growth, you naturally put yourself in positions to connect with the right people. That’s exactly what happened in my case.
Colorado has such a unique music and outdoor culture. How has growing up here influenced your sound and vision for projects like A Wonderful Morning?
Last year, I felt really stuck with my vision for the CharlieWonder project. I had the music, but I didn’t know how to portray my identity. To break out of that rut, I started spending every morning in coffee shops, working. The energy in a coffee shop is completely different from any studio I’ve ever been in, and when the idea came up to throw our own coffee shop event, I was beyond excited.
I feel so lucky to have grown up in Colorado because I truly believe your surroundings shape your story. For me, I credit much of my sound and identity to this state. It’s the foundation of who I am as an artist.
Looking ahead, what’s next for CharlieWonder? Do you see A Wonderful Morning expanding into a national series or are there other projects in the works we should keep an eye out for?
Although I’ve been working in music for over five years, I truly believe this is just the beginning for my project. The music I have in the vault right now is some of my best work to date, and the upcoming events have me more excited than ever.
At this stage, it’s all about building my community, finding my people, and really kicking things into overdrive.
