Chips and salsa, sex and relationships, Walmart and shoplifting — some things are just meant to be together.

But for one would-be thief in Fort Worth, Texas, his dreams of coming up on free DVDs was foiled when a middle-aged man dressed as Batman (who also happens to be a cop) caught him in the act.

“I introduced myself (as a cop, not as the Caped Crusader),” off-duty officer Damon Cole told InsideEdition. “He went back in the store with me.”

At first, the suspect denied taking anything, according to reports. But then, as all shoplifters do, he admitted to copping the four DVDs he'll never watch and will likely stash in his closet for 20 years until donating them to Goodwill.

One of them serendipitously was the LEGO Batman Movie.

“I said, ‘You can’t steal my movie, man.’ And he laughed,” Cole said.

The man was simply cited and released with a future court date pending.

So let this be a lesson to you: grown men helping children find simple joys in life aren't always too busy to bust ass if you're shoving over-priced consumer items made in China down your pants. And if you don't want to make the national news, avoid anyone dressed as a superhero — it's a setup!
