The entire series is one big clusterfuck — but at least it inspired a sweet-ass song.

So for the eleven or so people who haven't seen "Making a Murderer" on Netflix, this 10-hour rollercoaster ride details the false imprisonment, exoneration and re-imprisonment of Steven Avery and his nephew Brendan. If you had any faith in the justice system, just a single episode will completely destroy that, as pissed off Wisconsin cops put the local idiot behind bars and then (allegedly) frame him for murder.

Anyway, Dan Auerbach from the Black Keys watched it too, and instead of uselessly signing the petition to have Steven released, he wrote and released a sweet-ass song based on the series with his new outfit: The Arcs.

The song "Lake Superior" was released along with a note from the band:

“It’s like Billy Childish says, ‘We live in troubled times.’ Last week, we got a sneak peek at what goes on behind the curtains of our criminal justice system. A few sleepless nights later we gathered in the studio and wrote this song. Written, recorded, mixed and mastered in 2 days.”

No matter where you fall on the Avery controversy, it's a badass song:

All proceeds from the song will go to the Innocence Project, helping to free criminals that have met the same fate as Steve.

Since his voice is a little distorted, here are the lyrics — which make us want to watch the whole series over again:

On a stretch of sand, sweet northern breeze

Manitowoc put Avery on the beach

Your alibi, will never do

When the whole town’s got it out for you

Judge fox, the Great Lake stain

Got Superior wanting to pull its own drain

To abandon the shore, where the poor get whipped

And the fat get fatter and the rich stay rich

Where the mice of men are chained and bruised

Where to stand accused is to admit you lose

[Chorus]
I wanna know

People outdoor

Ain’t gonna go out and act insane

My baby girl

Out in a world

All alone burns a hole in my brain

I wanna know

People outdoor

Ain’t gonna go out and act insane

My baby boy

Pride and joy

He’s gonna go out and do the same

In the hall of harm disgraceful sounds

Manitowoc knows how to gavel pound

They crack it right and shoot on site

Do you know where your baby is tonite?

The red tide is back again

Old Superior’s new McCarthy clan

Back on the shore, where the poor get whipped

And the fat get fatter and the rich stay rich

Where the mice of men are chained and bruised

Where to stand accused is to admit you lose

[Chorus x2]

Oh man, that's good.
