Meeker Classic Sheepdog Championship Trials

9.4-8 – Market St, Meeker, CO

The best sheepdogs from around the world descend on the rural northwest mountain town of Meeker. The event lasts five days, boasting sheepdog herding, western festivities, and other events throughout the trials. Extra points if you roll up in your ‘84… sheepdog.

Denver Mineral, Fossil, Gem & Jewelry Show

Need to get your steps in? Take a walk around the 12 miles of tables at the Denver mineral, fossil, gem & jewelry show, which is the largest in the US. You’ll see everything from metorites to beads and crystals! 

Southern Ute Tribal Fair & Powwow

A grand celebration of the Southern Ute Indian Tribe in Ignacio, Colorado. Held since 1920, the excitement of gathering as a tribe and sharing traditions, food, and camaraderie has always been a highlight of each September.

San Luis Valley Potato Festival

99 Pieces of Art on the Wall

TEDx Boulder

High West Oyster Fest

Chile & Frijoles Festival

Spice up your life and perk up your… life… with Pueblo’s 29th annual Chile & Frijoles Festival. The three-day extravaganza welcomes nearly 150,000 pepper people, who indulge in a variety of types, from mild to wild. If you like chile/chili and beans, this event is not one to miss—free colon cleanse included. 

Festival Del Sol

9.22 – Chautauqua Park, Boulder, CO

Colorado Chautauqua is proud to present the fourth annual free and bilingual Festival Del Sol on Sunday, September 22nd! La Junta Tarantula Fest

Frankly, this is nightmare fuel for us but, if seeing hordes of giant spiders doesn’t give you flashbacks to watching Arachnophobia as a child and never sleeping again, then you can observe a beautiful Colorado sunset while thousands of tarantulas search for love. Enjoy a parade, vendors, education pavilion, tarantula tours and much more! 

Elk Fest

9.28-29 – Bond Park, Estes Park, CO

Start your fall by dropping by the Elk Fest for the annual elk “rut.” Estes Park becomes full of the evocative call of this majestic beast during the early days of autumn. It signals the start of the rutting season when the bull elks leave the wilderness to show up to our society and fight for affection. Please just don’t pet the elk. Or on second thought, go ahead, the world is overpopulated.

Oddities & Curiosities Expo

9.28-29 – Colorado Convention Center, Denver, CO

The Oddities & Curiosities Expo showcases hand selected vendors, dealers, artists and small businesses with all things weird. You’ll find items such as: taxidermy, preserved specimens, original artwork, horror/halloween inspired pieces, antiques, handcrafted oddities, creepy clothing, odd jewelry, animal skulls/bones, funeral collectibles & much more. Now that we think about it, this kinda sounds like most of our first dates.

Rockies vs. LA Dodgers

9.27-29 – Coors Field, Denver, CO

Sure, watching the dodgers is more painful than sliding down a ten-foot blade into vinegar, but that’s not the point. The Dodgers have one of the best players in baseball in Shohei Ohtani, who will ultimately go on to be one of the best to ever play. Since the Rockies aren’t doing great, tickets should be reasonably priced and therefore, it’s a win/win… except the Rockies won’t win.

High Plains Comedy Festival

9.19-21 – Select Areas, Denver, CO

Founded in 2013 by Denver comedian/writer Adam Cayton-Holland, the Festival features a mix of local and national comics in venues throughout the city—with a special emphasis on the historic Baker neighborhood surrounding South Broadway. High Plains has quickly gained a reputation as one of the most talent-packed and fun-filled festivals in the country and returns for its 11th year. Headline this year is Bob The Drag Queen.
