It was supposed to be the year for weed celebrations. You know, when the numbers would align just right so the date looks super cool on fliers and merchandise and all that?

… 4/20/2020 …

But then a miserable little virus came along and you know the rest. Yet facing the challenge of events canceled near everywhere head on, weed enthusiasts around the world are figuring out clever ways to maintain connections while staying physically apart. From celebrities doing “Kush Ups” to 24/7 live DJ sets and digital smoke sessions, laying low has never been so exciting.

4/20 it appears, is still game on.

Though it’s been challenging. Store owners are feeling the pressure even though most have been allowed to stay open for the time being. But, creativity has taken center stage.

“These are crazy times,” says Clara Higgins, owner of The Bee Dynasty shops in Grand Junction, Colorado. “We decided to offer curbside ordering for all customers, but more importantly for my CBD and Kratom customers … they really depend on us for that.”

She also says that the new normal means hitting the brand’s marketing differently. Because only one of her locations is able to be open right now, she’s focusing on prize giveaways and scavenger hunts via Facebook and Instagram live feeds. The Internet is a crucial lifeline for many cannabis-related businesses like hers.

How this all changes things moving forward is anyone’s guess, however most experts fighting the COVID-19 outbreak all seem to agree: everyone’s lives will forever be impacted — definitely in the short term, most likely in the long term too. It’s safe to say online events, digital meetups and more social media interaction will become the norm to many worldwide.

Reaching out to millions like this has never been done before; and in such a short amount of time cannabis teams have had to scramble to save 4/20. While the following list of online events is by no means exhaustive, it’s a great place to start if you’re still looking to celebrate the Christmas of Cannabis.
