Monster Smut, Sexy Priests and Alien Dick: A Steamy Summer Reading List

If you haven’t already read our article about Denver’s smutty book club community for context, here’s the summary: communities of smut lovers live and laugh among us, enjoying the freedom, empowerment and important conversations romance books bring.

We’ve compiled a list of book recommendations from the members of Denver’s smutty book clubs. Many are examples of peak human creativity. Plus, the death rate is expected to exceed the birth rate in the U.S. sooner than later. Some of y’all need to get freaky. Here is some inspiration…

Wet Hot Allosaurus Summer by Lola Faust

If you’re into dinosaur-human relationships, having your lover eat your limbs, Canadian, or think the dating pool peaked 66 million years ago, then this book is for you. The story follows a human, Tanis, as she runs away with her dino-lover Big Al.

Still not intrigued? Check out Faust’s other titles, such as Triceratops & Bottoms, Tyrannosaurus Sext, Fifty Shades of Gorgosaurus, or for you Heated Rivalry fans out there, try Dino Scores (a queer hockey romance with dinosaurs).

Kiss of the Basilisk (Split or Swallow Series) by Lindsay Straube

Described as a fanfic if Draco Malfoy went on the Bachelor and had to compete with a snake, this book will quench all your sexy snake fantasies. If you like “golden fangs, inappropriate use of a claw, hot men with daddy issues, hot women with daddy issues, witty banter, and long, dexterous fingers,” then you’re set.

“Split or Swallow is less of a book and more of a punishment for anyone who dares to pick it up. Lindsey Straube needs to consult an editor, a therapist, and maybe a snake handler,” said one reviewer.

Satan Burger by Carlon Mellick III

The book description reads as follows: “God hates you. All of you. He closed the gates of Heaven & wants you to rot on Earth forever. Not only that, he is repossessing your souls & feeding them to a large vagina-like machine called the Walm – an interdimensional doorway that brings His New Children into the world. He loves these new children, but He doesn’t love you. They are more interesting than you.”

Enough said?

The Half-Orc’s Maiden Bride by Ruby Dixon

According to reviewers, this was a sweeter take on the orc medieval universe. Less animalistic rutting, apparently.

“The Half-Orc’s Maiden Bride was far lighter than anticipated,” said one reviewer. “At times I felt that Agakor was a little too tame for my liking. Frankly, I had hoped for some bodice ripping and ravishment. Other than that, this story was romantic and wonderfully humorous!”

Ruby Dixon is an absolute unit of a smut author. Tap into her endless supply of ice planet barbarian stories, too.

I Got Abducted by Aliens and Now I’m Trapped in a Rom-Com by Kimberly Lemming

“A hilarious and sexy romance about a woman who gets dropped on a strange planet only to fall for not one, but two, aliens, from the author of I Got Drunk and Yeeted a Love Potion at a Werewolf.”

The top Goodreads comment: “What in the actual fuck.”

Morning Glory Milking Farm by C.M. Nascosta

A millennial named Violet picks up a job at a farm to pay off her student loans and “afford name-brand orange juice” by milking minotaur dick.

No further comment. Hopefully she got her orange juice.

Pounded by Produce: A Veggie Love Tale by G.M. Fairy

Two priests get cursed into becoming a tomato and cucumber. Emily, the heroine, lands a kitchen job.

“A holy and horticultural fever dream,” said one reviewer. “G.M. Fairy has done the impossible: they’ve written a book so unhinged, so blasphemously vegetable-centric that I may never set foot in a grocery store again without feeling dirty.”

Creamed by my Monster Stand Mixer by Krista LaRae

One girl. One mixer. One very sticky situation. Importantly, he’s German and there are tentacles.

One review reads: “You had me at tentacle intimacy. Started ironically, stayed for the surprisingly compelling mythology, finished it emotionally invested in a sentient appliance.”

I cannot make this shit up.

The Dragon’s Bride (A Deal with a Demon Series) by Katee Robert

Briar Rose makes a deal with a demon to escape her marriage. In return, she is placed on an auction block in a room full of monsters, and the highest bidder is Sol the dragon.

He has two dicks.

Strange Love (The Galactic Love Series) by Ann Aguirre

“He’s awkward. He’s adorable. He’s alien as hell.”

“She’s frazzled. She’s fierce. She’s from St. Louis.”

“This story is essentially speed dating but with arena fighting,” said one reviewer. Sounds like dating in 2026 in general, minus the alien sex.

Whispers of the Deep (Deep Water Series) by Emma Hamm

Mira is a human engineer for an underwater city at war with the “undine,” the merpeople who rule the ocean. She gets abducted by Arges, a hunky merman. If you’ve ever looked at some gills and considered cracking, then this book is for you.

The top review: “Good for her! So many plot holes and retcons but by god that woman fucked that fish man.”

Squeak (Squeakverse Series) by Vera Valentine

A balloon animal shifter omegaverse novella. There is funnel cake icing cum. Listen to the audiobook to hear balloons rub together. God help us all.

Vera Valentine doesn’t stop there with her inanimate object erotica. ..

Unhinged by Vera Valentine

She has sex with her door.

“Truly anyone can upload something to Kindle Unlimited and I think that’s kind of beautiful.”

The Final Dip (One Nugget. Endless Temptations.) By K. Bello.

A smutty book about a woman named Penelope who turns into a chicken nugget. Christening herself “Nuggie” by page nine, she spends the rest of the book dipping herself in seductive sauces.

Reviewers lamented the lack of editing and apparent use of AI writing.

“We want our chicken nugget smut written by a human, not an LLM.”
