For two decades, STS9 has been a sonic pioneer with an ethos rooted in exploration. The instrumental five-piece—Hunter Brown (guitar/keys), Jeffree Lerner (percussion), David Phipps (keyboards), Zach Velmer (drums), and Alana Rocklin (bass)—blends electronic and acoustic elements to create a cutting-edge sound that bridges the primordial and celestial, paving the way for multiple generations of electronic dance music.

STS9’s innovative spirit is anchored by their mission to forge universal connections. Their music, characterized by exploration and improvisation, is seamlessly integrated with a fully immersive light show, making each performance a transcendent celebration of humanity. The group is also dedicated to community building, consistently leading charitable initiatives and establishing their independent record label, 1320 Records.

With twelve albums released over the past twenty years, STS9’s legacy continues to evolve. They have been inducted into the Colorado Music Hall of Fame and regularly headline major music festivals across the country. Thanks to their devoted fanbase, STS9 has performed numerous shows nationwide, consistently selling out iconic venues like Red Rocks.
The band recently announced their latest nationwide tour where they’ll be bringing their groundbreaking sound and immersive live experience to fans across the country. The tour kicks off this week at the Ogden Theatre on July 19th and at Red Rocks on July 20th.

In addition to the tour announcement, STS9 have released their latest live album, Chromalight. The album is an exploration of the synergy between sound and light, featuring a multi-sensory production that was recorded live at Red Rocks in 2023. This album encapsulates the complete audio recording of this first-ever live performance, offering fans a profound auditory and visual experience.

“On July 21 & 22, 2023, STS9 revealed “Chromalight” at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado. The multi-sensory production set out to explore the connection between sound and light, the colors we associate with musical notes and scales, and how we can tap into the power of the harmony between them to create an intentional and immersive live spectacle. This is the complete audio recording of the first ever live performance of STS9’s “Chromalight.” – STS9
