ONE QUESTION w/ KIM PETRAS

What job do you think you’d have right now if you weren’t a musician?

[photo Byron Spencer courtesy Kim Petras]

“I don’t know. I’ve poured everything into my music and have spent years working on my skills as a songwriter, so I’m not sure I could ever be anything else. I’ve wanted to be a musician for as long as I can remember … but there was also a time I wanted to be a Disney Imagineer. So I’d like to think that I’d be doing that!”

FEATURED SHOWS

December 7
Matisyahu
w/ Bedouin Soundclash

Gothic Theatre

As far as artist development goes, there aren’t many more complex stories out there than Mathew Paul Miller’s, known by his stage name as Matisyahu. Dude’s been through the ringer and back, which makes for greaaaaat hip-hop. He’ll also be performing on December 8 at the Aggie Theatre in FoCo.

December 9
BROCKHAMPTON
w/ slowthai and 100 Gecs

Mission Ballroom

When BROCKHAMPTON blasted onto the hip-hop scene, it claimed the ironic ‘boy band’ label with honor. It’s a group of younger artists just making the music they all enjoy. Can’t fault ‘em for that. And real talk: it isn’t a newer N’Sync at all. It’s dope shit, unparalleled grooves.

Snoop Dogg
w/ special guests

Fillmore Auditorium

If you really need us to explain who Snoop Dogg is and what he’s done over the past 40 years … you sure you’re reading the right magazine!? Or maybe you’ve hit the dab entirely too hard and finally burned all the remaining cells, memory and otherwise. Enter the Doggfather, suckahs.

December 20
Snow Tha Product
w/ special guests

Mission Ballroom

After her vodka-fueled rage-rant at the Grandoozy festival a few summers ago, you’d think Snow Tha Product wouldn’t be able to find work again in Denver. But it’s the music scene and, well, she was right and it was hilarious. Snow ain’t let the man keep her down. Woof!

December 30
KT Tunstall
w/ special guests

Boulder Theater

It was her track “Black Horse and the Cherry Tree” that pushed her in front of every ear in America (oh woohooo!), but it’s her adept songwriting and gritty vocals that keep her there. Tunstall has had a hella fine run already, and looks to put more decades behind her with ease.
