NBC mistakenly posts picture of Kevin Hart while reporting Usain Bolt has COVID — and the internet Slams them for it
"I must have gotten really fast & tall overnight."
He’s won 20 Olympic and World Championship medals, he’s broken the world record for the 100-meter dash multiple times, and he’s been called the “greatest sprinter of all time.” Most recently, though, Usain Bolt wasn’t in the news for any athletic feat — instead, his name made headlines this week when it was announced that he was COVID-positive.
And when NBC reported that the famous sprinter had COVID they posted an article about it — with a picture of a totally different black celebriy: Kavin Hart. It was a faux pas of epic proportions that quickly garnered the ire of the internet. Twitter, Facebook and Instagram were flooded with posts lambasting NBC for mixing up two guys who look almost nothing alike (except for the color of their skin).
Of course, Hart himself chimed in.
No comment .....I must of gotten really fast & tall overnight....I want to take advantage of this moment & race anybody in the world. We can bet whatever....Shit just got real. I am also no longer doing comedy due to my Olympic training schedule....IM BACK BITCHES!!!!!! P.S this is Disrespectful on so many levels....All you can do is laugh. Maybe the Covid 19 shrunk his legs & torso

Hart wasn't the only one who took shots at NBC for this mixup. The internet at large erupted with criticism, shaming NBC for not even checking to make sure they were posting a picture of the right black man. And people did not hold back...
Today I learned that Covid 19 turns you into Kevin Hart. Either that or @NBCNews needs to hire someone who can tell black people apart. pic.twitter.com/uApMApKzjK— Brianna Wu (@BriannaWu) August 25, 2020
You hear about the new Kevin Hart's new movie announcement? pic.twitter.com/M4OigIuvqm— DLBIININJA/ I was going to ECCC2020 when Corona! (@DavidlBennettII) August 25, 2020
Bolt (not Hart) woke up on Monday to the news that he had COVID-19 — which, he had apparently come down with after throwing his own birthday party (a big no-no in Jamaica during these pandemic times).
Jamaica has relatively few cases of COVID-19: just 1,700 out of a population of thee million. But that doesn’t mean that they’re taking the pandemic any less serious than any other country. Which was why Prime Minister of Jamaica, Andrew Holness, said that police are “investigating the case.”
“[The police are] looking into all aspects of the matter. So no one is going to be treated with any exemption or given any special treatment. All Jamaicans have a duty,” Holness said.
The meaning of that statement isn't exactly clear, but it seems likely that it's an allusion to the fact that Bolt got COVID at a party he wasn't supposed to be throwing. He broke the rules and now, he may have to suffer the consequences — whatever that means.
As for NBC, they are suffering the consequences of their actions too. The news organization is taking fire from all sides for havinig screwed the pooch this hard. More than likely, someone lost their job for this mixup. In the era of woke, mistaking someone like Kevin Hart for someone like Usain Bolt is a cancellable offense...
In other news: have you seen the poster for the new film, starring Donny Trump Jr., Irrisistable? Looks pretty good if you ask me.
