7 things we learned at the Steve Aoki show

MusicNovember 15, 2013

Steve Aoki made his way to the Mile High City bringing with him what seemed like the equivalent of a musical theater production. Between the rafts, cakes and giant robots, the show left nothing to imagination. Did we mention that

1. Chicks dig cake: Sure, we understand that everyone expects Steve Aoki to bring cake to his shows. What we weren't expecting is how much chicks dig getting cake thrown at them. In our next life, we'd like to have this influence over women. But for now, we'll just watch Steve Aoki do it. Each time one of his many fluffy cakes was lifted into the air, girls would scream to be slammed in the face with a cake. And per their request, Steve Aoki would slam a cake in their faces. They loved it. And watching it was just as much fun.

2. Giant robots: The entire show was so entertaining that by the time you asked your buddy "what the fuck is happening?" something else would appear on stage. Enter the giant robots. Two ten foot robots walked the stage during part of his set, outlined in neon lights and sporting smoke guns on their hands. Maybe it was the beers and shots, or just the pure amazement of what was happening, but our minds were blown. For our next birthday party, we're getting giant robots with smoke guns.

3. Steve's Luscious Locks: The guy has good hair. We have to give it to him. Does he use Herbal Essences?

4. Waka Flocka looks like Kel from Keenan and Kel: Just say for us one time "Welcome to Good Burger, Home of the Good Burger, can I take your order?" That's all we need and our life will be complete. Besides the fact that Waka Flocka looks as though he could be an NFL linebacker, he has a striking resemblance to the Nickelodeon star.

5. Waka Flocka likes him some dubstep: Two beers at the Ogden: $15; tickets to the show: $52; chance to see Waka Flocka enjoy the dubstep drop: priceless. We'll give it to the 6'3" rock solid rapper, he held his own alongside Borgore during "Decision." The question is: does Waka eat cake?

6. People roll face on Tuesdays: It doesn't matter what day the show is on, people are going to party. We have no qualms about it, just as long as they share some of the wealth.

7. Steve Aoki might die at a young age: The man runs around the stage, soaks himself in champagne, dances and somewhere in between all of that, he plays music. Considering he does this 250 nights out of the year, we're wondering when his heart gives out. Just watching him we were getting tired. Luckily, the fans in front of us knew exactly what would wake us up.
