Customer service at its finest: Daycare loses 5-year-old offers mom $7 discount
When you lose a kid, brush yourself off and offer a free day of childcare. This was the attitude when Helping Hands Childcare, an after-school care program in Australia, lost one of its children for about an hour. The 5-year-old wandered away from the facility, crossed nine roads of traffic -- two of which were ramps to the busy pacific highway -- and was later found a few miles from the center and returned by police. All this without the staff knowing the child was even gone.
Showing an act of outstanding customer service, the manager offered the mother a free day of childcare valued at $7. Don't get us wrong, we're advocates of survival of the fittest, but when you fail to do your one job that's been entrusted to you, $7 might be a little cheap. The kid probably costs more than $7 on the street.
