Kendrick Lamar is too busy being Kendrick Lamar to care about that Macklemore text

So, the Grammys were kind of scandalous this year. Heading up the fuss was a text that Macklemore sent to Kendrick Lamar after he lost in several categories of "Best Rap Performance," which went a little something like this:

Classy? Not! The world waited with bated breath to see what Kendrick's comeback to Macklemore's little "You lost, suckaaaa" text would be. But then...

Kendrick Lamar, being Kendrick Lamar, responded to the text with complete composure in an interview with XXL, saying "It’s well deserved; he did what he did, man... He went out there and hustled and grinded. Everything happens for a reason."

Does this sound like the emo rant of a man lamenting over the loss of a few faux-gold trophies selected by a committee that's notorious for selecting white, low-hanging fruit? Nope, nope, and nope. If anyone thinks that Kendrik Lamar cares that he lost, or that Macklemore send him a presumptuous text rubbing it in, they're more wrong than the mental image of Betty White doing Justin Bieber.

XXL also asked Kendrick how he felt about the treatment of hip-hop as a genre by the Grammys, to which he so eloquently replied,

I definitely feel like they should always have more of the culture up in there, for sure, because we definitely stand out just like any other genre.. We part of the world. We part of the movement. So I think any awards, including the Grammys, should always push for more hip-hop because it’s music as a whole, it’s not just splitting different regions. Everything moves as far as sound and vibrations, and that’s how it goes. And we are a part of that.

Macklemore 0, Kendrick Lamar 1,000,000.
