15 Stupid times millennials were blamed for killing an industry
What will the millennials come for next?!
If it’s dying, no matter what it is — an industry, a company, a fashion, a type of food, a social custom or a political ideal — someone’s going to blame millennials for its demise.
It has become trendy to hate on “millennials,” to blame the 20- to 30-somethings for the changing ways of the world. Particularly among Boomer and Gen Y circles, you’ll notice articles surfacing about how “millennials have killed this,” or they’re “in the process of killing that.”
We’re a bunch of serial murderers on a cultural killing spree if you’re to believe half the clickbait swirling around the web.
Some of these claims are valid. For sure, we’re “killing” certain aspects of the culture we’re growing into and which, it is now our turn to define. That’s called change. The Greatest generation killed the woes of the great depression when they won WWII, came home and banged out the Baby Boomers. The Baby Boomers killed the cultural stiffness of the 40’s and 50’s with their psychedelic “Free Love” revolution. Gen X killed disco.
And now it’s our turn to kill things.
But, a lot of these accusations are outright fantastical. A lot of the things that people are trying to pin on this generation are so outrageous they’re actually hilarious.
