Sanjay Gupta is the Che Guevara of Weed

Sometimes, all it takes is for a movement to succeed is a face. Martin Luther King was the face of Civil Rights. Che Guevara was the face of the Cuban Revolution, as well as an emblem of coolness for a disturbing array of Target T-shirts. Sanjay Gupta, CNN's Chief Medical Correspondent and handsome TV-slut,  may now be the new face of the medical marijuana movement. He recently came out in support of medical marijuana, a reversal of his previous stance as a stauch 420 opposer.

Huffington Post reports that after reviewing the medical literature for studies proving medical pot's efficacy, Sanjay found that only 6% of studies reported favorable results for sticky-icky kush. So, he decided to conduct a little of his own R&D using data from other countries where it's legally and ethically easier to study the medicial use of weed. And you know what he found? Yeah, you do. Let's say it together. Ready? 1...2...3.

Medical marijuana had 'very legitimate medical applications.'

Not only did our boy Sanjay find that medical marijuana worked, he found that it was the only thing that worked for some of the patients he worked with. Sanjay also found that it was more effective than pharmaceuticals for pain management. Dare we exclaim a triumphant "Duh?"

Eat your hearts out mainstream America, because medical marijuana has a new hero, and his name is Well Respected Medical Doctor and Non-Stoner Sanjay Gupta. Check out this video.
