Shazam predicts the hits
Each time you fumble with your phone to Shazam that amazing song, you're doing more than satisfying your lust for new music. You're actually contributing to a large database of information that music executives now tap to look into the future of what's Katy Perry and what's not. According to execs at Shazam, the adroit music app can predict who will be on the charts up to 33 days in advance of the listing of the Billboard Top 100. Of course, anyone who has ever paid attention to the Billboard music charts realizes there's more predictability when peeing in the shower than there is when predicting who will top the charts.
