Why do all these street signs have rap lyrics on them?
Finally, street art comes together with street signs.
Multimedia artist Jay Shells has been creating legitimate street signs printed with rap lyrics that reference specific locations, then hanging them at that location like a street art ninja. His signs have quoted many well-known rappers such as Jay Z, Mos Def, Kanye West, Gza, Nas, Nicki Minaj, Jeru the Damaja, DJ Premier, and many more, and we have to say, it's a nice surprise to look up and all of sudden you're face to face with with the place in a famous rap song.
But, they're a little confusing from a traffic perspective ... are we supposed to yield, or ...?
Now if someone would only do this for a place in Colorado. Maybe something like, "Having a marijuana hayday, over on 10th and Broadway," or "Shit I think I caught Anthrax, musta been that bus on Colfax." Excuse us, we're just gonna go become professional rappers real fast ...
