With a background rich in hip-hop and soul, producer Alex Medellin is often found dropping the funkiest of cuts and bassiest of breaks all over town. If the state ever dubs something the official “Colorado Sound,” rest assured Medellin’s Late Night Radio persona will be wedged inside the heart of it. Catch him live at the Fox Theatre on Saturday, Sept 19 w/ Artifakts and SoDown — a Rooster-presented celebration of all things fetch.

1. You just announced a big tour / Denver show. Do you have anything special planned for the performances?

"Yeah, I just added my buddy Tyler as my drummer, and I’ll be playing live keys as well."

2. Internet stalking — is it something you’re willing to admit to doing?

"[laughs] I’m pretty silent on the Internet, so probably most of what I do on there might be considered stalking."

3. It’s a Tuesday night, what are you normally getting into?

"Working on music until about 3am — and then watching South Park."

4. What does the Colorado scene do right?

"It’s very accepting and open to all types of music."

5. Do you think it matters if artists use 'ghostwriters?'

"Integrity as an artist is all that really matters to me, so ghostwriting is about as shitty as it gets in my book. A lot of these guys are great entertainers, or promoters, but not musicians. I guess it really comes down to what standard you hold things to. But I could honestly rant forever about the lack of integrity in music these days."

6. Drake vs. Meek Mill — who won?

"[laughs] I don’t really keep up with stuff like that, and to put it lightly, I’m not a big Drake fan — but I had never heard of Meek Mill before all this, so I’m going to have to go with Meek."

7. Cell phones at concerts, your thoughts?

"Ehh, I think that kicking people out for taking pictures is pretty over the top, but I also think that people lose out on the moment when they are immersed in their phones."

8. Quick predictions: How will the Broncos do this season? Who will become president? What will our bank account read after the weekend?

"Great, Douche or a Turd, more than mine."

9. Where does Late Night Radio go when he has the Late Night Munchies?

"I’m a beast in the kitchen, so I usually cook something up, but if I’m lazy and it’s super late, Big Daddy’s is the go-to."

10. What can fans expect out of the future of Late Night Radio?

"A lot more live instrumentation and a bunch of collabs — I really want to keep pushing my music and progressing as (both) a producer and musician."
