Apart from making you experience every emotion known to man since you were an embryo with his acting and stand-up, Robin Williams was also a pretty effective teacher and life coach. And whether you knew he was schooling you when you were growing up or you're just realizing the impact he had on you now, he taught us some pretty important lessons about being a good person during his time here.

And although he may be gone, his memory and the lessons he taught us will live on in our hearts and minds until a meteor crashes into the earth and we all become radioactive space vagrants, aka at least 1,500 years.

Here's what we learned from growing up with the world's funniest man.

1. He taught you the meaning of boundaries, and to stand up for yourself when yours are crossed.

2. He taught you that even the most seemingly trivial talents are meaningful if you like doing them.

3. He made you realize what it truly means to love something.

4. He made you appreciate the weird parts of yourself.

5. He taught you to respectfully reject Canada as a thing.

6. He showed you that it doesn't matter how ridiculous you look to other people, it's how you see yourself that matters.

7. He taught you to question reality and think about the world on a deeper level.

8. He showed you to be nice to animals, even when they're robbing you blind.

9. He told you where to find motivation when you need it most … and that the word "very" is a the antichrist.

10. He taught you to live every day like it's your last.

11. He showed you that expressiveness is an entirely endearing quality. Wear your heart on your sleeve while you can.

12. He taught you to stand behind whatever you create, even if what you create is green slime with a conscience.

13. He made a pretty good case for optimism.

14. He showed you how to have a good time no matter who you're hanging out with.

15. He taught you when to back off from a fight … but also when to throw down.

16. And, last but far from least, he made you realize that you matter.
