ZetaKaye House, the promotional brainchild of John Baxter, has released the fifth installment of the “This Ain’t No Cowtown” series – this time with a heavier purpose than in volumes past. With close to a hundred submissions to be whittled through, the release was opened up to two full length music volumes and another devoted entirely to the poetry and comedy scene.

The overwhelming list was in large part due to the matter of circumstance the albums were being released for. All of the proceeds from the sale of this volume, including all previous editions, will be to help fund the medical bills of Mike Marchant, a musician with deep roots in the local music industry.

“Late last year, Mike Marchant was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma. [He] had to undergo some pretty intensive chemotherapy and had many obstacles to overcome. Luckily, in the last couple of months, Mike has gone into remission and is in the final stages of defeating this disease,” Baxter explains.

“Mike, like many of us, has no insurance and has found himself beneath some fairly lofty medical debt. I was tossing around some ideas for the comp before all of this happened, but when I learned what was going on with Mike, I decided to ask him if he would be interested in having the comp be designed as benefit for him. He was a bit overwhelmed and very appreciative. [It’s] just part of the reason why I love Mike. He's a pretty humble dude.”

For those who wish to donate, Baxter insists that it's not just some of the funds that are going to Marchant, but that every dime taken in will be used for its intended purpose.
