Wow, we didn't see that one coming …

When it comes to slut shaming, no one wins. People should be free to hump whoever— and whatever — they feel like without fear of aggressive from others for any reason.

But you just can't tell that to people on Twitter, because our great American pasttime has always been harassing others randomly online. We're not sure why, but people just love being assholes to each other.

Backed by a campaign to help stop misogyny on the Internet, the good folks at Brandwatch decided to dig into the problem to find out what the hell is going on.

From their study:

Omitting the phrases “shaming” and “shame” (to remove tweets like “slut shaming is wrong”) we focused our analysis on the words “slut” and “whore” used on Twitter for the month of May so far.

So every single day, people are being sexist assholes over 3,000 times. Not cool. In a whole month, there were 62,968 mentions of “slut” and 39,168 mentions of “whore.” Both words, we might add, that no one has any reason to call anyone, because who the fuck cares what you do in the privacy of your own home? If you wanna plow through 15 people an evening (assuming everyone consents), you can and should.

But then who the hell is saying all this shit? They broke it down according to gender, which might be a little underrepresented because not all accounts have one listed.

So ladies are the ones doing it and not dudes? That doesn't make sense. Loving ourselves is the first step toward loving others, so maybe everyone, especially ladies, should cool it.
