Suddenly, this place sounds relevant …
The Northern Territory (NT) of Australia is most known for its gorgeous sacred landscapes, clear blue waters and sprawling national parks fit for the most adventurous of travelers. But like any other great place on the planet, it too has its own tourism board with campaigns built around it for bringing in more people to experience everything offered.
Enter ‘CU in the NT’ — the greatest tourism slogan ever conceived. Brought to you by the fine people of NTOfficial, the campaign isn’t actually ‘official’ quite yet. As in it hasn’t been approved by any state official or government types, for obvious reasons. It’s simply an independent group wanting to "promote travel awareness to the Northern Territory region."
"We are a fronted by a guerrilla group of people with the aim of promoting travel awareness to the Northern Territory region," a spokesperson from NT Official said in an emailed statement to Mashable.
"We want people to recognise that if they want to go to the NT they shouldn't hesitate. They should just go and tell their friends to 'CU in the NT!'"
The campaign's Instagram and Facebook accounts have yet to see any real traction, though they're each only a few days old. Joke or not, the slogan and its accompanying web materials are a fine lesson in the way we consume media on the Internet. Slap a dirty word on anything and it suddenly becomes relevant …
What a time to be alive.
