Oooooh! Ahhhh!!!

A Chinese pyro-loving  installation artist by the name of Cai Guoqiang is having his early-summer display go viral, and for good reason. The “Sky Ladder” is a 500-meter high fiery structure that appears to develop out of thin air — but it’s in fact a set of wires tugged by a weather balloon with fireworks attached. A small boys dream, really …

The successful launch was Guoqiang’s third attempt. In 1994 he tried to lift off with high winds thwarting his attempt. Again, in 2001, after 9/11 air restrictions kept the balloon grounded, he was unable to let this bad boy fly. And now, in 2015 … dun dun dun dunnnn … the sucker flew and it’s a spectacle. Simply a spectacle!
