The rats of the sky are actually fairly good at creating a thing of beauty …

Duke Riley, who once used birds to fly in Cuban cigars direct from the source when the trade embargo was still a thing, is currently giving performances of his new performance art piece, titled "Fly by Night" — housed at the Brooklyn Navy Yard in New York City.

What he does it attach a few thousand LED lights (how would like to have that job?) to a bunch of pigeon ankles and allow them to take off all at once between the time the sun goes down and when the city's lights go on. The idea behind it, as he says in the New York Times video below, is to bridge the gap between the rats of the sky and humans. 

They're filthy, but not terribly bad at making some pretty incredible art …
