Algorithms broken? Too busy to care? Each week we recap the most interesting music headlines from the past 7-or-so days. Simply put, we want to catch you up on what's happening in the boom boom bap while others are busy writing about "isms." 

1. Early on in the week, it was reported that Best Buy would stop selling physical CDs soon. However in a later statement, the surprisingly successful electronics store said it would still sell them, the future just won't see as much space devoted to them on shelves as in years past. 

2. G-Eazy performed his hit single "Him & I" recently. The problem? "Him and Halsey" broke up just a few days ago. The results were … delivered with a great deal of awkwardness.

Tool and Perfect Circle frontman Maynard James Keenan responded to an anonymous rape allegation in the most Maynard way. “Many thanks to those of you who saw right through this despicable false claim that only does damage to the #metoo movement,” he wrote on Twitter. “And shame on those of you who perpetuate this destructive clickbait. As for my delayed but un-required response, I had my phone off. You should try it.”

3. Whether or not you want it to happen, Iggy Azalea is back promoting a new collection of work. Her new single "KREAM" features Tyga though — which, ugh, fuck that guy.

4. The Washington Post explored country music's "complex — and increasingly lucrative — love affair with alcohol," saying: "Although fans imbibe copiously at concerts of every genre, all of which boast songs about drinking, it’s possible that no slice of American life has embraced alcohol with the enthusiasm of country music."

5. And according to Digital Music News, piracy of music still exists but is down considerably among 16-24 year olds in the UK. 

6. Which is a statistic China's Tencent Music Entertainment juggernaut might be glad to hear. The organization is a big time player in the space and seeks to become even bigger with a U.S. IPO (valued at some $29-30 billion), an area largely occupied by Spotify and Apple Music right now. Here comes the competition …

7. WHICH are likely two headlines former Megaupload founder Kim Dotcom will hate to hear, considering there are people out there making billions legally for what he did illegally — and is now facing extradition to the U.S. for after losing his bid to stay in New Zealand.
