Before it heads to the most iconic music venue this side of the flat Earth (we're kidding), Bob Moses decided it was time to sit down and give fans a heads up. We had a good ol' chat, one that covered everything from the trials of writing music to whittling down millions of tracks into only three. Jimmy Vallance of the act conquered our prying questions with the courage of a full-grown elk.

What can Colorado fans expect out of your upcoming performance?
We are stoked to be coming back to Red Rocks and are grateful to being doing it with our good friends RÜFÜS DU SOL! Playing a venue like Red Rocks just puts you on your 'A-game' as a band. We’ve got the full four-piece band with us, and we’re gonna play a mix of new songs, old favorites and maybe throw a cover in there for good measure.

What does playing Red Rocks mean to you?
It’s one of the most iconic music venues in the world. It’s honestly a privilege and a pleasure to play. We played it for the first time a few years ago with M83 and were blown away with how fun it was. You’re literally playing for a wall of people and the acoustics from the natural rock amphitheater make your music sound huge!

Do you prefer larger festival crowds who may not have heard of you or intimate settings with die-hard fans?
We like them both, that is the Ying and Yang of touring. It’s really fun to win new fans and also fun to play for the die-hards. That being said, we’ll never get tired of looking out into a crowd and seeing a bunch of people singing along to our songs.

Has it become harder or easier to write music now that your first two albums are out?
It’s never easy, it’s always hard. Writing music is such a gamble, you never know what you’re gonna get. That’s why you just gotta keep showing up to the studio cause one day you might hit the jackpot.

The act has garnered substantial chart positions and awards; however, do you feel like those matter as much as they used to in music?
Streaming services have really given the power to the people. It shows you, in real time, how much people listen to or care about a song. It’s a great tool for a band to have — the old music industry models are quickly being thrown out the window. Awards and chart positions are always nice, but nothing matters more than a real, honest connection with fans.

If you could only listen to three songs for the rest of your life what do you want them to be?
That’s an insanely difficult question. If I had to pick three I’d go for:
Nine Inch Nails – 'Closer'
The Beatles – 'In My Life'
Soundgarden – 'Black Hole Sun'

What 'newer' acts around today do you see becoming multi-decade icons?
I think everyone has their finger pointed at Billie Eilish for this one. She’s bridged the gap between young and old, underground production and pop. She’s wise beyond her years and I think will be around for a long time … at least we hope so!

After Red Rocks, what can fans expect out of the band? More shows? Upcoming album?
We are a band that just keeps on trucking. We are gonna put out new music and keep playing shows, cause honestly, it’s all we know how to do! Looking forward to getting in some more studio time and tinkering away for a bit, but first … we got two nights at Red Rocks to do!
