If you were to close your eyes and think of the textbook version of an "iconic photograph," we'd bet you you'd be picturing one of Sandro Miller's images. If you were to close your eyes and think of a textbook version of an "iconic photograph," we'd bet you you'd be picturing one of Sandro Miller's images. As one of the most renowned photographers of all time, he captured some of the images that helped shape culture in 20th century, photos that for some reason, John Malkovich is suddenly in. What are you doing in there, Malkovich?

Sandro first met Malkovich in late 1990s, when you were playing with Pokemon and watching Titanic on VHS. And now, more than 16 years, their relationship has been cemented in a photo series of Sandro's called "Malkovich, Malkovich, Malkovich."

For the series, Sansro selected 35 iconic images that inspired him most for Malkovich to emulate, stating “John is the most brilliant, prolific person I know. His genius is unparalleled. I can suggest a mood or an idea and within moments, he literally morphs into the character right in front of my eyes. He is so trusting of my work and our process… I’m truly blessed to have him as my friend and collaborator.” Well if you love him so much, why don't you marry him!

Pieces that Sandro had John emulate include Bert Stern’s photographs of Marilyn Monroe; Dorothea Lange’s image of a migrant mother; Robert Mapplethorpe’s self-portrait with a gun; Annie Leibovitz’s iconic image of John Lennon and Yoko Ono; and Richard Avedon’s beekeeper, to name a few.

In the photo series, Malkovich demonstrates his Malkovich-y ability to animorph into anyone you tell him to, including Albert Einstein, Che Guevara, John Lennon and Andy Warhol. It's actually pretty impressive; the way he makes micro-augmentations of his facial muscles and expressions yields impressions that are eerily similar to the original. Now if he could just morph into a girlfriend for us … Thanksgiving would be a lot less awkward.
