Ahh, the free mixtape. Such a gift.

If any current act wants to have the slightest chance of career survival, it has to keep itself at the forefront of listeners' minds, release new things every chance it can, and revive its offerings with the new, new, new — because that's just the culture climate we're in right now. So goes the birth of the 'mixtape' — a completely subjective collection of content that means many things for many artists. It's an idea with roots in hip-hop, but is now widening its reach with artists in different genres who are also opting to remix, re-release, or just plain give you their shit because they don't want you to forget about them.

The latest (and in our own opinion, greatest) 'mixtape' is one from now LA-based Until The Ribbon Breaks. It's an admirable compliment to this year's A Lesson Unlearnt, and undoubtedly a precursor to the band's next album, likely being worked on right now as we speak. Because that's what artists do. They work. All. The. Time. For our simple amusement.

It’s funny how moving around the world can make you feel; a place, it's people, it’s pulse. . . such powerful things….
