Nomadic photographer John Kilar takes achingly gorgeous photographs of music and culture festivals around the country; specifically of moments you were there for, but can't remember because man, that molly was strong.

Using only an old Olympia Infinity Stylus he found at a pawn shop eight years ago, he documents the raw moments of festival life with a striking honesty and humor that makes his vision pointedly distinct. Currently, he has no home; though he lived in L.A. for a long time, he's currently on the road with no zip code to tie him down, which gives his work a unique depth of range and character one could only find by going outside their comfort zone. His passion is following various festivals, from the Rainbow Gathering to Mutant Fest to Burning man, and finding beauty in the moments and personalities he encounters there.

Particularly charmed by his documentation of festival life and editorial photo shoot experiments, we decided to share a few of our favorite shots with you, because we like you. You're practically on our Top 8.
