Air Dubai // Be Calm

Air Dubai has sat on this work for a long time. After two years of kicking rocks around the turnstile, the band is finally breaking out to release “Be Calm” alongside its lauded Warped Tour appearances. The cut is a potent statement that carries on the emblematic hip hop meets synth rock variety we’ve come to expect, but in more of a professional format than before. This album will no doubt be a nationally defining collection for the group.

MISCOMUNICADO // Color.A.D.O.

The three-piece trip rock outfit from Ft. Collins delivers us up something savory. With tracks labeled “Sex & Drugs,” “Pizza Party” and “Midnight Snack,” one can only assume that Miscomunicado had but a few things on its mind while writing – we’re assuming munchies. So if “Color.A.D.O.” was labeled a delicious Gardetto’s mix of music it would contain a few parts funky pretzels, some jam-bandy salted bread bits, and of course everyone’s favorite, the rye chip particles of psychedelia.

Sadistik // Ultraviolet

We don’t normally suggest anybody do anything with intoxicants. Ever. But if you’re going to, try writing an album. Impossible right? Neigh. It seems that Sadistik has done just that. It’s not near as herky jerky and drug fawning as we anticipated, either. Sure, he wrote most of it with a head full of acid, but the lyrical openness and powerful structure behind his conscious hip hop style suggests otherwise. Ultraviolet is a trip within a trip.

Kitsuné // America 3

The Kitsuné record and fashion label periodically gifts the world compilations that stretch the discovery of artists worldwide. Its newest album of variety is a fourteen-track audible cruise into a less bombastic flare of the electronic sphere. It’s an exceptional pick if listening options have become sparse or your lifeless summer playlist needs a tonal tune-up. “America 3” is a mellow ride of addicting tunes that will add to any seasonal adventure, be them turned up or turned down.
