The Echo Chamber // Synesthesia

Words, who needs them? Ft. Collins based electro-rock outfit The Echo Chamber understands the value of a lyric-less approach and excels in the unique endeavor. The instrumental act allows humming of plucked strings and the charged slap of drum skins for all the interpretation needed. Think of a comfortable trance with baby-soothing guitar riffs assisted with creative synth lines. That vision is as close to its sound as our worthless words will ever be.

Chemistry Club // The Electric Hush

We’ve been waiting patiently for this one; it’s a holiday miracle! “The Electric Hush” is the first chapter in a four-part sci-fi adventure in the “Copia” series from Chemistry Club. It follows a short list of characters through the collapse of their civilization. Geeky, right? Such is the point, as the electro-pop act embraces its inner geekdom creating a whimsical culture around a powerful and energetic album. It’s unique in every sense of the word. Nerds unite!

NATIONAL / INTERNATIONAL

Twiceyoung // Prefer You

With plenty of acts coming around in the industry toting ‘80s inspired synth rock, many of them get lost in the hyper-saturation. Twiceyoung make a great case with “Prefer You” to be one of the standouts floating above the flood. Lots of distortion, lots of echoes and lots of areas one can find themselves being crooned into a peaceful haze is what this album does best. It’s a sexy fireside companion if we’ve ever heard one.

Kiko King & creativemaze // Intellect Illuminated

As Americans glued to all things media we often get our perceptions of other countries from whatever’s shoved into our senses. If that’s the case, Berlin-based production duo Kiko King & creativemaze lead us to believe their hometown is a dark supernatural land with industrial complexities. Our favorite single “Wolves” is creepier than a window-less van. The album wanders around strange soundscapes with no definable genre, which is where the remarkability of it gets us.
