LOCAL

Roniit / In The Shadows

We couldn’t help but picture limber and seductive bettys floating around on some ribbon support apparatus when listening to this EP. Oddly enough that’s exactly what happens at Roniit’s live show. Mind blown. The darkened electronics that support the backend enhance her ethereal voice and create a fine and comforting agreement. Fans of Ellie Goulding should give this local beauty serious consideration.

Disgrace The Traitor / …To Pick Ourselves Up

Debut EPs can go one of a few ways. Into general rotation would be one. Two? Well, to the can with it. “…To Pick Ourselves Up” is the debut album from seasoned musician Mike Trujillo. It’s clean, catchy and what we’d expect from a talented artist. Formerly of local rock acts Take To The Oars and Vonnegut, Trujillo knows what he’s doing so our receptacle remains empty.

INDEPENDENT

Death On Two Wheels / Death On Two Wheels

Someone get this man a glass of water! Trae Vedder’s vocals are true grit. Summoning the outlaw quality from an early Steven Tyler, Death On Two Wheels embraces tidings from classic rock’s elite and shapes them in ways thought forgotten. The self-titled album from Death On Two Wheels is an expedition of road-trip-rock that’ll leave your boots dusty and throat empathetically dry.

Max Elto / Taped Rai EP

Sometimes electronic music has way too many booms and bop bops that we go through a debilitating sensory overload. Seizures aren’t fun for anyone. The new EP from Max Elto has none of it. They thrive in the minimalistic aspects of tone and restraint, especially in the strongest track “Backyard Animals.” What’s better than what they do, do, is what they don’t, do.
