We spoke with some of the greatest this year — 2016, we're coming for you!

13. DATSIK

"It’s the truth [that Denver gets crazy], man. I think it’s important that Denver knows that too, because that’s what keeps it going. When the city knows that, they tend to go extra hard to show that it’s worthy of being one of the best cities to play in. As an artist that makes things fucking awesome!"

12. KAYLA "DOLLFACE" COLLINS

"Ultimately, I’d say the biggest thing is I don’t make a decision on any career based off of money. It has to be your passion. It can’t be a money-based goal. You’re an artist, you have to have that creative passion behind it or your skills won’t show. It comes from the heart more than anything."

———-

11. FLOSSTRADAMUS

"As artists, we’ve been trying to make this sound, this movement, as big and as available as humanly possible. We’re not the artists that say it’s got to say underground, we’ve never been that way. We’ve never been too cool for anything. We’re trying to bring this shit to the people, and we want as many people to find out about it as humanly possible."

10. G-EAZY

"My daily task is trying to keep my head from exploding. It’s important to keep the right people around you and always stay humble and stay grounded. It’s gets pretty easy to lose yourself."

———-

9. THE CHAINSMOKERS

"I think there’s been many times where we looked up to artists we admire, and we want to be that guy, and do badass videos. You’re like, ‘this is so gangster,’ and ‘this is so sick,’ and get wrapped up. Sometimes you just want to put on leather jackets and look like badasses."

8. AESOP ROCK AND ROB SONIC (Hail Mary Mallon)

"I recently woke up to find my cat mid-shit at the foot of my bed. Quite a day. Anyway my new sheets are kinda gray-ish."

———-

7. ZEDD

"I hear color in all the music I write."

———-

6. ALISON WONDERLAND

"You guys have haters?"

———-

5. PAUL OAKENFOLD

"What I’m looking at is — where’s the bands? It’s very DJ driven. I think it would be really good for us to have electronic bands. In England we had, for instance, Chemical Brothers, Underworld, The Prodigy, Faithless — these are all bands that came out of electronic music. We don’t have them in this current generation, that’s what I’m interested in looking for."

———-

4. AWOLNATION

"I certainly feel different if I drink the same amount of alcohol that I would usually, because I’ve learned the worst hangover in the world is probably in Colorado. I’ve lived, I’ve learned … like Alanis Morissette …”

———-

3. MAC MILLER

"That’s just the type of artist I want to be. I want to drop projects. It’s hard to tell a full story with one song. I’m more interested in putting out a complete thought. If singles happen organically, then they do. In this day and age the word ‘single’ is … it’s hard to put your finger on what it means anyways."

———-

2. GRIZ

"We all used to suck at walking. But look at us now!”

1. ATMOSPHERE

"We always romanticize how powerful art and artists can be, but the truth is, you’re only as powerful as your congregation. I don’t want to fall for it. I don’t want that to be the reason I slipped and didn’t pay enough attention to what the politicians were doing. I’m afraid of teaching the kids that art is the way to go. Or that art is what’s going to effect change. I think art can light the fire, and then the people have to figure out how to take the fire and burn shit down."
