FEATURED SHOWS
August 24
Highly Suspect
w/ Slothrust
Mission Ballroom
In life, hustle is the name of the game. Before Highly Suspect broke out something fierce in the current rock scene, the Cape Cod trio was grinding out paychecks as a cover band — plunking away at classics from Sublime, Jimi Hendrix and Pink Floyd at a local bar. It prepared each of them for a run at the big leagues. Now, frontman Johnny Stevens mesmerizes as a grungy, tattooed Adonis, his intense vocals the environmentally friendly LED bulbs that light up the stage. Rock isn’t in the best of places right now, yet with this act, all is forgotten.

Slim Cessna’s Auto Club
w/ Lost Walks
Levitt Pavilion
Frontman Slim Cessna and all revolving members in the Auto Club have been local music staples for a very long time. Decades! Since 1992! In that time the act has carved out quite the genre — at times country, at others Americana, sometimes goth … it’s really more of a “see it to believe it” kind of flow. And hey, it’s a free show. Can’t lose.

August 15
Shakey Graves
w/ Dr. Dog and Caroline Rose
Red Rocks Amphitheatre
Those heartstrings of yours are lookin’ a little dusty. Time to climb the 15 billion stairs at Red Rocks with a belly full of White Claw and get them tugged for a few hours. And wouldn’t you know it, Mr. Shakey Graves has offered to do it! Parts rock and roll, blues, folk — all crammed together on one soulfully digestible platter.

August 17
Snail Mail
w/ Choir Boy
Bluebird Theater
Singer-songwriter Lindsey Jordan turned 20 this past June, and yet her delivery spills out like it’s coming from someone twice her age who’s seen a few things. It’s this striking maturity that put her on the map long ago, barely a teen. There is plenty in store for this talent. Check it before she hits the big venues.

August 21 – 22
Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats
w/ Hiss Golden Messenger
Red Rocks Amphitheatre
Real talk: this act puts on one of the most intense shows out of any other on the circuit. And we’re not just saying that because they’re hometown heroes, because the vintage style of rock and soul is something to be admired. But also, who wants to bet Hickenlooper joins them on stage again for some dumbass plea to vote for him as president? *eye roll*

August 30 – 31
GRiZ
w/ special guests
Red Rocks Amphitheatre
Earlier this year GRiZ stated that these two Red Rocks shows would be his last at the iconic venue. Why? No one except GRiZ is for certain — but he did also promise that the two completely different setlists will be something special. Friday night’s will run through his 2010-17 catalog while Saturday features cuts from the new album (and previously unreleased stuff). Yasss.

September 4
Fantastic Negrito
w/ special guests
Bluebird Theater
With back-to-back Grammy awards, Xavier Amin Dphrepaulezz (better known as Fantastic Negrito) consistently sets the blues arena on fire. Straight fire! And his stage act, ooooh, is something so saucy we might try it with wings. Haven’t heard him yet? Look up “Plastic Hamburgers” and do it now.
