What exactly were you doing Dec 31, 1996? Were you barely driving? In bed before 10:00 pm? Alive? Well, while you were out being all young and sober, thousands of Denver residents were turning up on New Year's Eve during the official opening of one of the city's most iconic dance venues. Though it really wasn't that long ago, it's wild how just a few decades can change the things we so often overlook — fashion, technology, music tastes. What doesn't change, however? People getting tanked and "Woohoo"-ing at someone holding a recording device.
Posted recently by the SoCo Nightlife District to its VIMEO channel, the 42-minute long video hilariously showcases the beginning of The Church Nightclub on 11th and Lincoln. We laugh now, but just think about what we're going to look like to people in 2035? Better start deleting things from those Facebook/Instagram accounts now, or we're gonna have some 'splainin' to do.
