Screw you bucolic landscapes and war-torn elementary schools just trying to teach orphans how to distill the giardia out of their drinking water. There's a new darling photography subject in town: wet doggy dogs.

Screw you bucolic landscapes and war-torn elementary schools just trying to teach orphans how to distill the giardia out of their drinking water. There's a new darling photography subject in town: wet doggy dogs.

And thanks to photographer Sophie Gamand, they're sweeping the photography scene. She just won the prestigious Portraiture award from the Sony World Photography Awards for perfecting the trend, stealing the honorable title away from more traditional subjects such geriatrics who tap dance and people cradling birds.

She describes her project as images of dogs during their most "vulnerable and humiliating moment," which she deliberately accesses to show that dogs are more than just animals; they're tiny furry people who look just as shitty wet as you do. Gorgeous.
