Have we ever told you how much we love it when an artist successfully remixes a song? It’s a fancy craft, that remixing, and it’s always something that has us on our toes here at The Rooster’s music department. Not only does it allow for us to revisit old songs and remember how much we loved those, but it also twists the initial ballad enough that it lends us something fresh and un-hyped to toss in to the rotational library. It’s, for the most part, a win / win for all parties involved.
So when we saw this fancy ditty fly through our feed this morning, we had to bite. It’s a song called “Dresscode,” originally recorded by Denver locals The Photo Atlas for their “Stuck In A Honeytrap” album. Kris Barman, aka Wuki, a former member of the electro-rock outfit Innerpartysystem, remixed and made anew the song for our listening pleasure.
Listen below; and for added kicks we threw in the original track, just in case you wanted to arbitrarily make this a “Compare and Contrast Tuesday” – or whatever’s cool with you kids nowadays.
