Welp, there you have it. Gone are the days when pre-teens are ceremoniously plucked from their parents' wealthy homes and groomed to be pop stars. Their replacement is finally here.
A computer — or more specifically, Artificial Intelligence — is now making songs with little help from humans. And while they're still in a stage of infancy, the two recently released tracks are arguably better than anything found on the Top 40 charts. It's true, we've reluctantly listened to them all.
Per the creators, the "Flow Machines software learns music styles from a huge database of songs. Then, exploiting unique combinations of style transfer, optimization and interaction techniques, it can compose in any style."
As in the case with "Daddy's Car" and "Mr Shadow," French composer Benoît Carré still had to write the lyrics and arrange the songs, yet the process is still an interesting step into allowing an electronically built brain into the seemingly subjective world of art.
What's better, is that Sony plans on releasing a full Artificial Intelligence written album sometime in 2017. All fire, we hope.
