It could just be the cock-tease of a weather system we’re having lately, but is anyone else feeling a bit antsy in their pantsies about the upcoming music season? Larger than paycheck acts Ellie Goulding, Chromeo, Zeds Dead and Bassnectar have already solidified respective dates on the Red Rocks calendar and talks of local festivals are up in the air like the chroniest of kinds. There’s a satisfying feeling within us right now, and it has everything to do with the coming months and the possibility of them being platinum ones.

With that in mind, the Underground Music Showcase recently announced that it’s looking for bands to fill this year’s roster of performers. Every summer the festival invades South Broadway for an exceptionally long weekend of music and entertainment. It boasts itself as the largest music festival in Colorado and has gained every right to do so. While the festival doesn’t open its doors until July 24 of this year, they’re asking for artist submissions now in preparation.

In the past they’ve relied on bands to submit via a SonicBids account – which as some of you know costs money and is more of a hassle than scraping burnt toast for most musicians. This year they’ve dropped the middleman and are asking artists to submit directly to their desk. We assume they’d prefer those submissions online – but who knows – courageously showing up and performing right there desk-side on a drunken whim may actually gain a few brownie points…or…have you escorted from the premises in chains, but whatever, it’s art.
