The bears thought it was a soup kitchen, we can't blame them …

It happens to the best of us: Haphazardly wandering around the forest for fun, starving, foraging for berries or dropped ends of Cliff bars, and there she appears, a lone grey-savior with an outreached hand full of PBJs or possibly some other earthy scraps her hippie ass grew in an upcycled greenhouse. Munchies, she cures them …

Such is the case with a reported 6 bears who would often visit Jo Ann Medina’s yard because of her penchant for feeding wild animals. She had been warned for more than a year of the dangerous implications of her actions, but she failed to heed those warnings this week, landeding her behind bars.

"Living with wildlife is part of living in Colorado, especially in the foothills and mountain regions of the state. However, feeding wildlife is not only illegal, but dangerous to both humans and wildlife," says a press release from Colorado Parks and Wildlife.

Medina covered the cost of her $800 bond and was released early Wednesday morning. Colorado Parks and Wildlife are now working with the El Paso County Health Department to find the bears, get them the heck away from people food and restore the neighborhood to the bear-free environment most people would like it to be.

No response yet from the bears on whether or not they’ll miss the hookup, but a recent tweet from the elder bear simply reads: “raaaaaaaawr”
