Spank our asses and call us Charlie, Elon Musk’s 2013 vision of a world connected by giant cylinders propelling traveling tubes at speeds that will surely make your fear of flying seem pathetically antiquated is actually coming to fruition in the Nevada desert.

Hyperloop One, a Los-Angeles based start up which expanded on the idea of the billionaire’s futuristic method of transportation, has erected the first full-scale Hyperloop track — and it’s pretty awesome.

Originally envisioned by Elon Musk in 2013, the Hyperloop is essentially a long tube with the air vacuumed out of it. Inside rests a pod carrying passengers who graciously sit amongst a group of peers while magnets blast them to work or the mall at speeds of up to 700 mph, where we’re sure their first stop once exiting the pod will be to change their underwear.

Over 240 employees helped make the impressive track come to life in the Nevada desert where the towering tubes lay suspended above the baron landscape of lizards and buried bodies from gambling debts long past due.

The company’s CEO, Rob Lloyd, believes this is the moment of change for the transportation industry.

'While technology is revolutionizing many facets of our lives, we have not seen a radical change in transportation since the Wright brothers introduced air travel over 100 years ago,' said Mr Lloyd.

The company has raised more than $160 million to date to build the most idealistic form of transportation since our cardboard box rocketship to Billy’s house (note: the rocket never made it). Unfortunately, experts are predicting that a track from Los Angeles to San Francisco would run a staggering $100 billion in costs to construct. Yes, that’s billion with a B. What the payback period would be on such a project is unfathomable unless ticket prices run in the six figure range — a little more than Southwest's "Get Away" price.

Nonetheless, there's evidently a market for this product and it’s exactly where you’d expect it to be, in the United Arab Emirates. Those guys have more money to throw around than the financial advisor of Rooster Magazine. Seriously, who builds an indoor ski resort in the middle of the desert, next to man-made islands?

But it’s true, Dubai officials have nearly inked a deal with Hyperloop One guaranteeing a line from the opulent vacation city to the Emirati capital of Abu Dhabi within the next five years. Research companies are currently calculating the feasibility of such a project.

Until then, the test track in the middle of the Nevada desert is quite impressive according to the photos. So enjoy, and remember, if you think flying in a metal bus thousands of feet above the earth is ridiculous, you haven’t seen anything yet.
