Time to start aligning that energy, Ms. Lauryn Hill. The peasants are pissed …

One of the most infuriating things for any fan is when the person they look up to acts as if they're too good for those who put them there.

Call it the Kanye Complex, or Madonna Flu, or whatever — people hate it when they spend a ton of money on someone just to get shit on and treated as 'less than' to accommodate a filthy rich celebrity. After being a few hours late and not performing to attendees' satisfaction in Atlanta recently, Ms. Lauryn Hill had to go on the defense because of just that. Looks like it ain't working to her benefit, either …

"… aligning my energy with the time, taking something that isn't easily classified or contained, and trying to make it available for others"? Ehh …

Isn't a performance something that schedules months in advance, per a contract drafted by two (or more) consenting parties, based on availability, pay and time structure? That's rhetorical. Of course it is.

We get it, there's an artistic process for everyone. But saying that it's more important than contractual obligations or making sure people (who paid good money) to see you don't wait in silence, is just bad juju. It doesn't help going into condescension mode either, saying 'real fans will understand.'

Because 'real fans' are pissed too:

Time to start aligning that energy, Ms. Lauryn Hill. The peasants are beginning to revolt.
