"There’s a lot of stuff that gets me going that is probably older than the kids that will stumble across it," says option4 about his mixtape created for Insomniac's "Metronome" series.

Brennen Bryarly is option4, a Denver-based “more house than tech, more deep than disco” music producer and DJ. But while he calls the Mile High his home, his roots are deeply intertwined with a Chicago past — an area widely accepted as having the defining house scene of all scenes.

Yesterday option4 dropped a mixtape for one of the largest EDM festival producers in the world, Insomniac, and spoke to them about its release.

“Let's be honest: Most mixtapes are pretty lazy, I'm guilty of that, too,” he says. “… for this one I wanted to do something completely different. I wanted to put together a mix of all kinds of old, classic house music. There’s a lot of stuff that gets me going that is probably older than the kids that will stumble across it. It's a rare opportunity to make a mixtape for such a huge outlet like Insomniac, so I wanted to come correct.”

He opens for Amine Edge & DANCE tonight at the 1UP Colfax. Tickets are still available and can be purchased via the venue’s site.
