As part of a green initiative, and in an effort to help customers help work off their ingested trans fats, McDonalds China has launched exercise bikes throughout a few of its stores.

It’s a novel move, as the bikes not only generate electricity as customers pedal, but also serve as a means of exercise for Chinese customers.

Meanwhile, the only exercise Americans get after their fast-food binges comes from storming our capitols and running from mass shooters.

The bikes were launched in two McDonalds in China primarily for their ecological benefits, though many have pointed out that the idea of pedaling an exercise bike while eating McDonalds is slightly counterintuitive.

They come attached to tables, with customers being encouraged to pedal the bikes as they eat. The electricity that’s generated by the bikes can then be used to charge customer’s mobile phones.

“The company said the bikes are designed to inspire more green behaviors as customers enjoy their McDonald’s favorites,” reads an article from Fox Orlando. “Company leaders say it’s part of China's ‘Upcycle for Good’ project, an initiative focused on creating products with plastic parts from recycled materials.”

There’s no news yet on whether the exercise bikes are coming to American McDonalds, and while it may be a good idea for McDonalds customers in China, we  can’t help but doubt it’s efficiency in a country where we run out of breath just from eating.

We don’t know if you’ve ever tried to do cardio while you eat any food, let alone McDonalds, but we highly recommend reading this article before you even think about trying to pedal while you engorge your insides.

As McDonalds continues to push green initiatives, it’s also making huge differences to its menu in an effort to make it healthier.

For instance, and you’re not going to believe this, but the restaurant chain struck cheeseburgers and chocolate milk from its happy meal menu in 2018, single-handedly curing America’s child obesity epidemic and further sucking out the joy that young American adolescents place in a single slice of cheddar cheese.
