A presidential candidate added his own offensive backwoods charm to the transgender discussion. Thanks for nothing, Arkansas.

So, Bruce Jenner is Caitlyn now, and in reality, that's not very interesting. We honestly think as long as people don't screw with anyone else and they're not an asshole about it, they can do whatever. Gay people getting married or former Olympians changing their appearance have about 0% impact on our daily lives — we say go crazy. Just don't be an asshole and you can live your life exactly how you want to. In fact, the media has been pretty cool about Caitlyn's recent unveiling, so good for them.

What has raised our hackles, however, is someone going on and breaking that "don't be an asshole" rule …

At a recent convention, Mike Huckabee thought this would be a great idea to share:

"Now I wish that someone told me that when I was in high school that I could have felt like a woman when it came time to take showers in PE," Huckabee said.

"I'm pretty sure that I would have found my feminine side and said, 'Coach, I think I'd rather shower with the girls today.'"

You can just imagine a room full of old white dudes just cracking up over this one.

Sure, there's a lot wrong with this. At first glance, it might just be a wildly out-of-touch politician who thought it would resonate with voters to make ham-handed jokes about transgender people …

And that implies transgendered folks can flippantly choose the most strategic sex that day so they can stare at naked high schoolers …

And that a scrawny 13-year-old Mikey Huckabee would capitalize on that system to work his way into the female locker room and leer his little hillbilly eyeballs out …

And that the now-grown-adult Huckabee wanted to share this sentiment in the Internet age where everyone archives every dumb word said, and it never goes away.

Normally we wouldn't give a shit, and rank this up with the nonsense deranged people yell towards pigeons at the park. But since this guy wants to run for president, he deserves our contempt and aggression. Our nation deserves a leader that isn't a backwards bigot, and if we idiot-shame this guy hard enough, our dreams might come true and he might drop out.

So do your part. Don't let people in power get away with saying stupid things.
