To be honest, we're kind of interested to see what this Anchorage Folk Festival in Alaska is all about. See you in the wilderness, bitches!

The above photo is a map. A pretty map. But a map nonetheless. And what this beautiful map shows us is the most popular music festivals in each state.

Created by PromotionsNow.com — a marketing and something or other blog about stuff — the image was created as a way to pitch ideas to businesses about branding themselves at certain festivals. Events like these typically bring massive crowds with money burning holes in their pockets because that head full of booze is telling them cash is worthless, but that $9 beer is not. Spend, spend, spend! The company is on a mission …

While some of the festival names on the list (especially Colorado's) may seem odd to people who know better, keep in mind the way PromotionsNow figures the top spots has only a little to do with overall attendance. "In Louisiana, for example," the site says, "The New Orleans Jazz Fest boasts an average attendance of more than 460,000 jazz lovers, but it’s the Voodoo Experience, with less than 100,000 attendants, that is far more widely recognized and buzzed about."

So it takes into account social media interactions, local/national media articles, attendance and just general buzz from the surrounding areas, among other things. Obviously, monster names like Bonnaroo, Coachella and EDC are pretty much no-brainers. We're skeptical, however, that SXSW didn't make the cut for Texas — as it's a two-week festival that also focuses on an innovative technology industry, something likely to boost the bejesus out of some social media numbers.

Whatever, not our list, take it how you must — and maybe use it to plan out next year's road trip. To be honest, we're kind of interested to see what this Anchorage Folk Festival in Alaska is all about. See you in the wilderness, bitches!
